Christophe Bonneville is a graduate physicist from the Ecole Centrale de Marseille and a Doctor of Instrumental Optics.

During his PhD in Marseille, France, he contributed to the development of a couple of new instruments for Astronomy such as the VIMOS spectrograph for the European Very Large Telescope and a new integral field spectroscopy concept, which was selected to be one of the European instruments on board NASA’s James Web Space Telescope. Subsequently, he ploughed his experience into fostering business activities in the area of instrument development for space, scientific and military applications, catering for a vast array of clients and business contexts and meeting highly varied technical challenges.

In 2006, he was recruited by e2v’s Grenoble site, thus joining one of the global leaders in the field of image sensors. There he focused his energies on pushing the development of new manufacturing processes and businesses, while placing the greatest possible emphasis on customer requirements within the scope of major developments in Earth observation. His role allowed him to return to the passions of his youth by giving him the opportunity to promote e2v’s contribution to the development of SWIFTS technology, an emerging concept at the time.

As this concept became increasingly convincing, promising the technology a bright future, he joined forces with Thierry Gonthiez to put together a far-reaching business initiative to present demanding markets with a revolutionary offer based on SWIFTS Technology.

Thierry Gonthiez received his PhD in physics from the University of Orléans (France) for his research in the field of laser-matter interactions. Within the scope of his thesis he was able to develop and use a wide range of lasers, from VUV to IR, and to develop new diagnostics based on laser spectroscopy.

In parallel with his thesis, Thierry set up a company specializing in EUV radiation sources for microelectronic and scientific applications, and took part in several industry consortia to develop EUV Lithography.

In 2004, Thierry joined the technology transfer company of the University Joseph Fourier-Grenoble 1 (Floralis), where he developed pre-industrial activities to bring innovative technologies based on public research onto the market, particularly in the field of optics and photonics.

He worked on new systems for gas analysis (SARA/ OF-CEAS) and in the field of adaptive optics with ALPAO, of which he is a co-founder.

Thierry worked with the two inventors of SWIFTS Technology since day one in 2004 and, between 2007 and 2011, he was in charge of the SWIFTS 400-1000 industrial development project under the aegis of Minalogic (a leading European nano/micro-technology cluster), for which he received the 2011 PHOTON d’OR and the 2009 Minalogic GreenLabel.

Thierry received several awards, including Master of Innovative Company Creation in 2004 (awarded by the French Prime Minister), as well as winning the French National Contest for innovative business creation (2001, 2003 and 2011) and being awarded the 2008 Springboard Research prize by the President of the French Senate.

Thierry is co-founder and Strategic Director of RESOLUTION Spectra Systems.
